The Edinburgh Guarantee was established in 2011. The aim was to help school leavers who were unable to move into a positive destination following the last economic downturn. Led by the City of Edinburgh Council, public, private and voluntary organisations in the city worked together to offer opportunities for young people. A variety of solutions were developed to support them into employment, training or further education. These contributed to an increase of over 12% in positive destination figures for the city.
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Edinburgh Guarantee expanded its offer to meet the needs of all job seekers, regardless of age, and employers.
