What are paid work placements?

A new cohort for 2026

Paid work placements are a way of getting new routes into employment. They are temporary periods of work to help you upskill, retrain or gain work experience. As part of our offer, we provide paid work placements in our organisation, The City of Edinburgh Council. Applications are now closed for our 2026/27 programme.

We are welcoming a new cohort of individuals to our organisation through our Job Creation Scheme. Each participant will complete a 6-month paid work experience placement, fully funded by the Edinburgh Guarantee. This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain valuable and meaningful work experience within the City of Edinburgh Council. These placements allow you to refresh your employability skills and increase your confidence through a temporary, paid, work experience placements.
