Meet the Council 2026

The City of Edinburgh Council hosted a business focused Meet the Council event for the second-year running.

The event took place on Tuesday 3 February 2026 at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh and focused on the support available to Edinburgh’s businesses, with opportunities to speak to the City of Edinburgh Council teams and partners on topics such as:

  • answers to practical questions about business rates
  • advice about growing your business, whether that’s finding premises to highlighting business funding
  • recruitment support and Fair Work advice
  • what licenses you may need for new businesses
  • advice about apprentice schemes
  • how you can sell your services to the council and other public sector organisations.

The council’s partners also brought their expertise and guidance as to how they can support from being recognised as a trusted trade service through the Edinburgh Trusted Traders Scheme through discovering about social enterprises to business support services from Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses.

With nearly 300 attendees, the event was a great success. Many of the council teams attended, such as:

  • Business Gateway
  • Edinburgh Guarantee
  • Forever Edinburgh
  • Visitor Levy
  • Parental Employability Support
  • Trading Standards
  • Procurement
  • Licensing
  • Planning
  • Scientific Services
  • Commercial Property
  • Environmental Health
  • Culture and Events
  • Non-Domestic Rates
  • Building Standards
  • Edinburgh Convention Bureau
  • Pathways (Jobs, Education & Training).

Meet the Council is expected to run again next year, so keep an eye out for further information!
