Job Description

We are seeking innovative and flexible individuals to join our locality housing teams, and we have posts in each of our four locality offices in the South West, North West, North East and South East offices around the city.

Housing assistants play an important role in supporting a range of housing management duties and information and advice services to improve the quality of life of our customers, including tenants, homeless people, residents and neighbours of our tenants' homes.

You will work closely with Housing Officers, managers, colleagues across the Council and external partners to support the effective delivery of our housing service. You will have the opportunity to take responsibility for your own areas of work, contribute to service improvements and help ensure our customers receive a first-class service.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified to SVQ Level 2 Housing or equivalent evidence of experience.
  • Experience within a housing/homeless or similar service environment of comparable scope, size and complexity.
  • Experience of working within a team and understanding of your role in effective teamwork.
  • Analytical and research skills and the ability to interpret and communicate policy, legislation, regulation and data.
  • Knowledge of the homeless and legal legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which the service operates.
  • Good analytical skills, including verbal and numerical reasoning, and an ability to implement solutions to problems.
  • Good communication skills at a personal and operational level.
  • Relationship development and advisory skills.
