Job Description

We are building a panel of paid freelance consultants to undertake accessibility user-testing of visitor attractions, hotels, and various hospitality venues (bars, restaurants and cafes) across Edinburgh, as well as user-testing of travel routes and travel itineraries.

Main tasks

  • planning site visits
  • in-person assessment of different destinations in terms of specific accessibility criteria as well as the overall visitor experience. This will include photography and note-taking onsite, interaction with venue staff and the delivery of a templated (electronic) report after the visit
  • collaboration on the design of visitor itineraries and the promotional activities of the business, including content creation
  • opportunity to conduct consultations (via video call) with clients directly.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Lived experience of disability, including but not limited to powered and manual wheelchair users, D/deaf people and people with visual impairments.

Desirable

  • Previous consultancy experience 
  • candidates will need to be able to work (and share work) remotely and have familiarity with digital workplace platforms, specifically Google Workspace 
  • experience in the Travel and Tourism and/or hospitality industry 
  • experience of photography, social media asset creation and content creation 
  • language skills additional to English, particularly at an upper-intermediate level of conversational ability in German, Spanish, Italian, French, Mandarin, Wu (Shanghainese) or Yue (Cantonese).

  • are happy and comfortable working independently (specifically on site visits) as well as collaborating
  • have good attention to detail and who are able to plan and organise their own time
  • have customer-facing experience and are used to dealing with a range of individuals
  • are proactive and keen to add suggestions to the promotion of the business
  • are happy to appear in photographic promotional materials and generate social media content.

Please note that as this is a consultancy role, contracted hours are flexible and negotiable rather than fixed.
