Managing Director, Mercat Tours
Kat is Managing Director of Mercat Tours, an award-winning, B-Corp accredited, family business that provides storytelling experiences in Edinburgh. The company is Fair Tax, Living Wage, and Living Hours accredited. Kat also acts as Co-Chair of the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group, Co-Chair of Blocal Scotland and is a champion of Fair Work and Living Wage ideals in the tourism industry and beyond. Through her work, Kat supports employers to translate Fair Work principles into action.
Councillor Tim Pogson - co-chair
Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Committee Convener
Councillor Tim Pogson is the Convener of the Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Committee, and acts as Co-Chair of the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group. Tim is the current chair of Edinburgh’s Integration Joint Board, and a service improvement manager at Scotland’s Housing Network. Tim is also a board member of Housing Options Scotland.

Head of Social Impact, The University of Edinburgh
Gemma is Head of Social Impact at The University of Edinburgh. In this role, Gemma is responsible for coordinating, managing and measuring the local social and community impact of the university’s civic activities. Gemma is passionate about providing positive social impact for Edinburgh and driving the Fair Work agenda.
Joanne Davidson
Director of Policy and Insights, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce
Joanne is the Director of Policy and Insights at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. In this role, Joanne is responsible for delivering the policy strategy for the organisation, developing policy positions on key issues and representing the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce on local and national groups. Joanne brings her in-depth knowledge of the business community to her work with the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group.
Sandy MacDonald
Executive Director, The Scottish National Investment Bank
Sandy is responsible for ensuring that the Scottish National Investment Bank delivers the impact aspect of their core missions associated with net zero, place and innovation. Sandy is passionate about inclusion, empowerment and tackling inequalities, and brings this to his work with the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group. Sandy also chairs Developing the Young Workforce Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian.
Andrea Ramsey
Director, Carrick Home Services
Andrea is Director of Carrick Home Services, a family run care at home provider based in the east of Edinburgh. Carrick Home Services has been an accredited Living Wage employer for over 6 years and has built fair work principles into its company culture and values. Andrea is passionate about driving the fair work and Living Wage agendas and growing these movements, particularly in the care sector.
Paul Adderley
Founder and Director, Beyond Green
Paul founded Beyond Green, a consultancy that focuses on developing deep collaborative partnerships with the organisations it works with. Beyond Green’s mission is to inspire others to make a difference to people, planet and profits by building knowledge, skills and capacity, their clients are better equipped to embark on the Net Zero Journey and become resilient as we tackle the climate emergency. Beyond Green is an accredited Living Wage employer, achieved BCorp status in 2018 and became a Disability Confident Leader in 2023.
Abigail Sharp
Senior Researcher, The Lines Between
Abi has been working at The Lines Between for five years as a Senior Researcher. The Lines Between is a social research agency based in Edinburgh that aims to harness research, evaluation and consultation analysis to create positive change for communities and marginalised groups. Abi is the company’s Fair Work and Community Benefits Manager, which involves promoting fair employment practices and employee wellbeing, and ensuring that organisational activity has a positive social impact. As part of this role, she has enrolled the organisation in the Living Hours accreditation and is leading progress towards adopting the Bereavement Charter Mark.
Lynn Houmdi
Founder, Flexible Working Scotland
Lynn is the founder of Flexible Working Scotland (FWS), a community of over 24,000 people working towards fair, flexible work as the norm across Scotland. Lynn also co-created Making Work Work, a CMI award-winning women returners programme that supported around 400 women into fair, flexible employment. Lynn brings a direct connection to the workers and jobseekers Fair Work is meant to serve to the work of the action group. She has a particular focus on flexible working and the challenges many women, especially mothers and carers, face in designing a work life blend that lets them contribute fully at work while managing caring responsibilities.
