Access Progress’s target client group will be parents. In particular it will support parents who are unemployed and who: identify as a parent/carer; have a disability yourself and/or have a disabled child; are from a minority ethnic background; have a child under the age of one; an employment returner.
What does the support look like?
We support you in a range of areas including:
• Motivational support
• Health & wellbeing
• Practical advice
• Skill-building
• Support into further education
• Career guidance
• CV creation and tailoring
• Application support
• Interview preparation, and more.
We work together with you to identify your interests and goals. We will plan how to overcome any challenges on your way to reaching a positive destination. We also support you to engage in your community through hobbies or volunteering.
What will I get?
• 1:1 support
• Training opportunities, including employability training and a variety of other qualifications. This is via Access to Industry Community College
• Through engaging with Moving Forward, you may also be entitled to £30 a week EMA payment
When
Moving Forward (Access Progress) supports young people for up to 12 months. We aim to provide weekly 1:1 sessions where possible.
Where
We deliver the service face-to-face in suitable locations within the community. In addition, we offer remote support via phone or online sessions through Zoom, WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams.
This is a service for people aged 16-19 and up to 25 if care experienced. Young people are referred by schools in clusters 1 and 3 or by SDS:
• Cluster 1: Boroughmuir High School, James Gillespie's High School, St Thomas of Aquin's RC High School, Tynecastle High School, Gorgie Mills
• Cluster 3: Forrester High School, St Augustine’s High School, Craigmount High School
