Brief summary
The Parental Employability Support service is free and personalised to your needs. You can get one-to-one support to build an action plan and support you with: gaining new skills and confidence, maximising your income and benefits, job applications, CVs and interviews, understanding your childcare options, access to funding to help you move towards employment and access to other specialist support services.
What does the support look like?
We provide personalised, one-to-one support to parents in local community settings to help you to create an action plan and work towards achievable goals.
The service is flexible, and your keyworker will work at your pace to understand your needs and help you to progress. This includes understanding the balance of being a parent with having your own goals.
The eligibility criteria is one or more of the following:
- Lone parent
- Parent of a child with a disability, or parent with a disability
- Parent of three or more children
- Parent from a minority ethnic background
- Parent with a youngest child under one year old
- Parent under 25 years of age
What will I get?
We can support you with CVs, job applications, interview preparation and guidance around training and education opportunities.
You can also be supported to build your confidence and understand your potential, as well as accessing funding to help you achieve your goals.
We can help you understand your childcare needs and the funding that you may be entitled to.
We can also help you to access any other wider support that can help you overcome any barriers, such as wellbeing, housing, money advice, parenting and many more.
When
The service is based around your needs and you can access the service for as long as you wish to.
The service is open Monday to Friday.
Where
We will meet you somewhere that suits you in the community, including libraries, community centres or in our city centre office.
What can I do next?
Parents progress into or towards employment, education or training or other opportunities that they identify.
