Brief summary
Key to College (KTC) offers an outreach keywork service to help school-leaving college applicants through the entire process. This includes guidance on courses, applications, college visits and interview preparation. It can also involve self-enrolment and setting up your student account. We also liaise with college staff and parents over funding and course availability.
What does the support look like?
We provide 1:1 outreach careers assistance for school leavers who want to go to college. This includes discussing options with you and your family, finding the right course and visiting college. We also help you with applying online and interview preparation. If successful, we assist you with all transitions from school tasks. These can include opening a bank account, getting a Young Scot Card and photo ID.
What will I get?
We provide 1:1 support with the college application process and family assistance for funding or bursary. We also assist parents with EMA applications. This can involve getting birth certificates and any other documents needed for bursary evidence.
The next stage involves self-enrolment, setting up a student account and accessing your timetable. This helps you start college with all processes completed. You will also receive a laptop for college work.
When
Our outreach Keywork is not a programme. We follow the college application calendar, which is February to October for Autumn starts and November to March for January starts.
Where
We meet you in an outreach location such as schools, libraries, community settings and college campuses.
What can I do next?
If you are unsuccessful in college application, we may assist with training options or signpost to other support services.
