Brief summary
Making Work Work – for Edinburgh Women is the Challenges Group's award-winning women returners programme, supporting women to return to or progress in work following a career break.
What does the support look like?
This is a peer-led skills refresher programme which facilitates the confidence and networks essential to finding work commensurate with women’s skills, ambitions and potential.  We work with women who have management experience or aspirations to provide insight into modern workplace cultures and positive management and leadership skills - either for their next role or a future one.

Participants also get support with their job search, personal development and designing their (work)life blend.

The programme works with women in Edinburgh looking to step back into the workplace – or progress in work – and who face difficulties in finding work that fits with all the commitments and fun of life following a career break (e.g. for maternity, caring, health issues / disability, redundancy, relocation or other reasons).

Training is delivered online in a closed cohort of women a diverse range of sectors and backgrounds. Participants report a life-changing experience which sees their confidence, network, and vision for the future greatly enhanced, as well as an improvement in their work-related skills
What will I get?
• Skills Refresh – Twice weekly sessions of peer-led, guided learning with experienced trainers in management and leadership, employability and personal development content. Participants will complete self-directed learning online individually and in small groups outside live sessions to consolidate their learning via our partnership with the Chartered Management Institute.
• Events/masterclasses - monthly, designed to inspire, inform, generate ideas, networks and confidence.
• Mentoring - participants are matched with mentors from various sectors/backgrounds for 6 x 90-minute sessions through our partnership with Business in the Community.
• Networking – participants are grouped in a MS Teams channel to facilitate communication and networking between them and the facilitators. They also join the MWW Alumni Channel of 280+ women just like them.
• Signposting and post-programme support – the team are on hand to provide further support and referrals to other providers as required.
