Do you like the idea of being your own boss? We have pulled together resources to help you set up your own enterprise. There is support available regardless of what sector you are going to work in and help available at every stage of the process. No matter how much (or how little) knowledge you have, our partners can give you the support you need to get started.

Business Gateway

Business Gateway provides support to enterprises where and when you need it. As well as one to one local advice to help you through the Covid pandemic, there are support webinars, advice on funding and information about official guidance. You can access coronavirus related online resources, get free market research and market reports. And if we don’t have the answer to a specific question, we can connect you with someone that will.

Creative Edinburgh

Creative Edinburgh helps creative people connect and thrive. Through events, support and mentoring we want to get you to your fullest potential as a creative. Their offering includes support through their Creative Circles community, events to connect with others in the sector, funding information and digital skills courses to help you raise your game.

RBS Business Banking 

There is a range of support available depending on which stage you are at with your enterprise. With their Business Builder & Enterprise support, you can get help validating your business idea, finding customers and exploring funding opportunities through their virtual tool. They also off an Accelerator 6 month programme giving you access to mentors, coaching, office space and access to events with legal and tech advice. They also offer free one to one support Business Growth Enabler and Women in Business Specialist.

The Prince's Trust

The Prince’s Trust supports young people aged 18 to 30 to set up their own enterprise. They provide dedicated key workers who will have regular calls with you focusing on goal setting, relationship building, exploring your business idea or seeing how they can support you to start up your business/become self-employed. You may be able to benefit from a mentor and networking opportunities with other entrepreneurs.They also offer funding support available through grants ranging from £250 to £1,000 and business loans.

Young Enterprise Scotland

Young Enterprise Scotland offers a wide variety of enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes and development opportunities for young people across Scotland. They can support you through the key milestones of developing an idea, conducting market research, creating the product or service, promoting that product and ultimately trading it.
